WHAT WE DO
SERVICES
Thermal Systems Engineering
Vertex Aerospace specializes is the design, analysis, integration, test and verification of thermal control systems (TCS). The thermal engineers at Vertex Aerospace have over 35+ years experience providing engineering solutions to government and industry. Some of the capabilities of the Vertex Aerospace Thermal Systems Engineers are as follows:
- Comprehensive thermal design, analysis, test, integration and verification for spacecraft, instruments, avionic boxes and printed circuit boards
- Define, document and manage lower level thermal requirements
- Review component level, instrument level and observatory level thermal models and thermal analysis reports
- Develop thermal subsystem specifications, test plans, test procedures and test reports
- Support systems engineering meetings, trade studies and development tests
- Introduce design concepts, thermal control options and negotiate interfaces between subsystems
- Review component, instrument and observatory thermal interface control drawings and documents (TICD)
- Specify flight thermal control system (TCS) hardware
- Integrate and Test (I&T) thermal control system hardware
- Correlate thermal models to thermal balance test data and flight data
- Status cost and schedules to support earned value reporting
- Present thermal design and system design reviews
Thermal Analysis Tools
Vertex Aerospace thermal engineers have extensive experience and knowledge using several of the industry standard thermal analysis tools. These include, but are not limited to:
- Thermal DesktopTM, RadCAD and FloCAD
- SINDA (SINDA/Fluint, SINDA-85 and SINDA/G)
- Thermal Analysis Results Processor (TARP)
- Thermal Synthesis System (TSS)
- IDEAS/TMG
- Thermal Analysis Kit (TAK 2000)
- Thermal Radiation Analysis System (TRASYS)
- Simplified Systems Payload Thermal Analyzer (SSPTA)
- FEMAP, AutoCAD, Pro/E
- Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
- Fortran, C, C++ and Visual Basic Custom Programming
Spacecraft Systems Engineering
Vertex Aerospace is currently providing Systems Engineering support to NASA with emphasis on Verification and Validation. Some of the capabilities of the Vertex AerospaceSpacecraft Systems Engineers are as follows:
- Support requirements verification management and mission validation.
- Support effort to ensure that all the mission requirements are being verified at the appropriate levels of assembly for both the flight elements as well as the ground segment.
- Support planning mission simulations to ensure that the space and ground segments will meet the mission goals, and to help train the operations team.
- Support writing verification and validation plans, as well as reviewing integration and test plans written by all mission elements and segments, with special attention given to electrostatic and magnetic verification plans.
- Review the on-orbit commissioning and science operations plans and ensure that the mission simulation activities cover all phases of the mission.
Support simulations of failure events and contingency planning.
